of Blox Thermoplastic Resins
● The epoxy products and intermediates
(EP&I) business of the Dow Chemical
Company has discontinued production
of BLOX thermoplastic resins.
“After reevaluating our business direction, we have determined that
BLOX resins do not fit with Dow’s current
growth strategy and product mix,”
said Phil Cook, business vice president
for EP&I at Dow. “We remain fully committed
to the epoxy resin industry, and
will use this as an opportunity to redirect
Dow’s tremendous knowledge of epoxy
technology and resources toward other
growth opportunities within the EP&I
business, including the recently commercialized
epoxies and epoxy acrylates for
UV curable applications.”
Blox thermoplastic resins are used
commercially in several specialty applications,
including powder coatings. Dow
is currently evaluating divestiture or
licensing options for Blox resins and the
company’s reactive extrusion technology.
